First, does HP-UX 10.20 support PAM? I know HP-UX 11.00 does. If 10.20 also does, you should be able to build Samba with PAM enabled, then add the necessary magic to your /etc/pam.conf file -- without touching the Samba core. Keep in mind that using PAM or other Unix password facilities means you have to run with 'encrypt passwords = no', with all that that implies. Peter (known to some as psamuels@sampo.creighton.edu)
