[Samba] Files and directories created by WinXP client are read-only
My WinXP client creates files and directories that are writable only by the file owner, not by the group to which that user belongs. There must be something all-too-obvious that I am overlooking here, but I'll be darned if I can find it. The files and directories can be read just fine, but I can't write to them. Clues? Help? Commiseration? Thanks, Jay -- When we are planning for posterity, we ought to remember that virtue is not hereditary. -- Thomas Paine

You'll need to use "create mask" parameter: http://ftp.easynet.be/samba/docs/man/smb.conf.5.html#CREATEMASK Setting this to 0775 will enable rwx access for users belonging to the same group. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jay DeKing" <jdeking2@comcast.net> To: <samba@lists.samba.org> Sent: Sunday, May 11, 2003 12:43 AM Subject: [Samba] Files and directories created by WinXP client are read-only> My WinXP client creates files and directories that are writable only bythe> file owner, not by the group to which that user belongs.
