[Samba] windows 2000 pro "successfully" joins samba domain, but domain user login fails after reboot.
hi, i am having trouble with samba-3.0 acting as a domain controller. i have been using samba-3.0-alpha17-19 acting as a pdc for windows 2000 workstations for a couple of months. but now i have a problem joining windows 2000 pro. i am manually creating a unix account for a new machine. and then i can join this machine "successfully" to the samba domain. at least windows 2000 pro says, that it has successfully joined the domain. but thats not true. if i am looking at the newly created samba account for that machine, then i can see that the two password hashes for the machine account are different! and so, the windows 2000 pro machine cant authenticate itself to the samba server when it is booting. info: i have tried both the ldapsam backend and the standard smbpasswd backend. same results with both backends. i have also tried using different versions of windows 2000 pro including: no sp, sp2, sp3 hope that someone could clarify whats going wrong tia christoph
