I have been working in the networking industry for about 9 years but am new to the Samba World. I have a client that I have set up in the following manner: 1 Windows 2000 server acting as the Domain Controller. It is running wins and is being used to deal with the netbios resolution on the subnet for the main office. 2 Samba servers running Linux Mandrake 8.2 and Samba 2.2.7 in the remote offices being used to pass the netbios traffic to the WINS server in the main office. The traffic is being passed via tunnels that are permanently created between the cisco PIX firewalls located in all three offices. I am experiencing some instability in the WINS functionality and am not always successfull in logging in to the domain. I will include a copy of the global settings of the smb.conf file for both servers. The file is the same with the exception of the netbios names. The reason I am only including the global settings is that I have not made any changes or activated anything in the other sections. Any help in solving my problem would be greatly appreciated.
