samba - Oct 2002 - People

Is there a way to map NT names to UNIX names when they are not the same. 95%
of our are which is great but we have a few that are different. For example,
we have NT user "bigboy" who's Unix account is
"smallboy", how can I make an
association, oh learned 1's.

Check out Winbind to authenticate users against the PDC.

Please read the man page for smb.conf - look for "username map".

	In your smb.conf [globals] add:
		username map = /etc/smbusers


	In your /etc/smbusers put:
		cs02929 = eng.calculo
