Hi all, I need a share visible for everyone but writable only for people in group admin. Here is what is in the smb.conf file: [admin] comment = Administration Folders Directory path = /usr/shares/admin browseable = yes public = yes share modes = yes write list = @admin create mode = 0770 directory mode = 0770 Everything works fine with Windows 98 but we upgrade few machines to Windows XP and now every user access the share as pcguest. If the share has "public = yes" SAMBA never ask XP clients for name/password so even if you are in admin group when you login from Windows XP you get connected to this share as pcguest and don't have permissions to write. If "public = no" then Samba ask for name and password but the share is not visible for the others. SuSE Linux 7.2 SAMBA-2.2.5 Please advice. Thank you Peter
