samba - Oct 2002 - Problem installing

Maybe not a problem, but all ./configure files work on my system from every kind
of program.
But Samba doesn't seem to do so.

I'm starting ./configure file from the source directory so i think it should
work then.
downloaded the lastest version "stable"
account "root"

What version gcc compiler do u use?
Find out by typing:
rpm -q -a | grep gcc*
