samba - Sep 2002 - Samba customization - performance enhancement

Hello All,

  	Does anyone know how I can strip down a Samba server for maximum 
performance enhancement (beside adding SCSI drives)?  I would like a 
dedicated file server that has nothing that unnecessary included to 
administer and use the machine.  I thank you for the advice.

I think your best bet is stripping down the NIX OS that you plan to use. 
  Services like X take up ALOT of resources.  You don't need much to run 
just a Samba server.
