I have two shares currently mounted with smbmount (linux) from an XP computer which has left my network permanently. Its hard drive crashed. Those two shares are still there. Any attempt to access these shares, say with cd into them or fuser or umount, just causes the xterm I am working in to hang. Is there a way to get rid of these shares without rebooting? Thanks, Joel
Thanks. That solved it. I don't know why I didn't think of that myself..... Oddly, after I killed the smbmount processes, mount still showed them as mounted, but I could run umount then and get them cleared out finally. BTW, html mail is generally frowned on, but I didn't complain because you solved my problem! Joel On Sat, Aug 17, 2002 at 09:03:54PM -0500, Jay Hall wrote:
