Can anyone help with the following problem? I installed Samba version 2.2.4 as a PDC for a Windows 2000 client (but also have running an old version of Samba acting as a PDC for PCs running Windows NT). I can access the shares but when when I attempt to join the domain I get: "The remote procedure call failed" and: [2002/07/24 15:04:48, 0] tdb/tdbutil.c:tdb_log(492) tdb(/usr/local/samba2/private/secrets.tdb): tdb_reopen: failed to obtain active lock in log.smbd. My smbpasswd files contains entries for the machine and user "root". It is user root with the password as recorded in smbpasswd that I use when prompted. The machine has an entry in /etc/passwd. My smb.conf contains: (with actual IP addresses replaced by xxxxxxxxxxxxx and wins server is the IP address of the original Samba server serving the NT PCs) [global] security = user workgroup = met-domain2 allow hosts = localhost, xxxxxxxxxxxxx username map = /usr/local/samba2/lib/users.map logfile = /usr/local/samba2/var/log.%m max log size = 50 printing = lprng printcap name = /etc/printcap load printers = yes encrypt passwords = yes smbpasswd file = /usr/local/samba2/private/smbpasswd os level = 65 domain master = yes preferred master = yes domain logons = yes logon path wins support = no wins server = xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx dns proxy = no [homes] comment = Home Directory writable = yes create mode = 0755 [homes-all] comment = Home Directories path = /home writeable = no <..... other shares .....> [printers] comment = All Printers path=/var/spool/lpr/samba lpq command=/usr/local/bin/lpq -P%p lprm command=/usr/local/bin/lprm -P%p %j print command=/usr/local/bin/lpr -b -r -P%p %s printable = yes public = yes writable = no create mode = 0700 Hoping that someone can shed some light on this....
