[Samba] Samba as a DC w/ Win98 Clients :: "Incorrect Parameter"
Hi, I'm running samba 2.2.5 on linux, with Win98 clients using it as a logon server. Whenver I try to log onto the TEST domain, I get a very instant "Incorrect Parameter" msg from Windows. Client IP 141.97.52.12 with the samba box being 141.97.52.249. I think my smb.conf looks ok: <--snip--> [global] workgroup = TEST netbios name = TEST server string = Test Domain security = user domain logons = yes os level = 60 logon script = %U.bat local master = yes preferred master = yes domain master = yes encrypt passwords = yes smb passwd file = /usr/local/samba/private/smbpasswd [netlogon] comment = The domain logon service path = /home/netlogon public = no writeable = no browsable = no <--snip--> log.nmdb gives me: <--snip--> [2002/07/23 10:43:58, 0] nmbd/nmbd_logonnames.c:add_logon_names(155) add_domain_logon_names: Attempting to become logon server for workgroup TEST on subnet 141.97.52.249 [2002/07/23 10:43:58, 0] nmbd/nmbd_become_dmb.c:become_domain_master_browser_bcast(291) become_domain_master_browser_bcast: Attempting to become domain master browser on workgroup TEST on subnet 141.97.52.249 [2002/07/23 10:43:58, 0] nmbd/nmbd_become_dmb.c:become_domain_master_browser_bcast(305) become_domain_master_browser_bcast: querying subnet 141.97.52.249 for domain master browser on workgroup TEST [2002/07/23 10:44:02, 0] nmbd/nmbd_logonnames.c:become_logon_server_success(114) become_logon_server_success: Samba is now a logon server for workgroup TEST on subnet 141.97.52.249 [2002/07/23 10:44:02, 0] nmbd/nmbd_responserecordsdb.c:find_response_record(235) find_response_record: response packet id 8217 received with no matching record. I thought it could be a wins thing. I added static entry on our wins server. Now whenever a client machine logs onto an exsisting domain it can see the machine: <--snip--> C:\WINDOWS\Desktop>nbtstat -a TEST NetBIOS Remote Machine Name Table Name Type Status --------------------------------------------- TEST <00> UNIQUE Registered TEST <03> UNIQUE Registered TEST <1B> UNIQUE Registered TEST <1D> UNIQUE Registered TEST <1E> GROUP Registered TEST <20> UNIQUE Registered ..__MSBROWSE__.<01> GROUP Registered MAC Address = 00-00-00-00-00-00 C:\WINDOWS\Desktop> <--snip--> The windows machine doesnt have the EnablePlainTextPass key in the registry. I tried reinstalling Client for Microsoft Networks but with no joy. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Andrew -- Andrew McKinney IT Dept // NWBHSST
