[Samba] [Samba 2.2.5] Startup error: (..)mesages.tdb
Hi all! I have downloaded Samba 2.2.5 and configured+built it, in order to have ACL support. Everything seems to work fine, but smbd dies inmediately after starting it ( nmbd keeps alive ). The error message is this: [2002/07/10 09:53:29, 0] lib/messages.c:message_init(112) ERROR: Failed to initialise messages database System info: Kernel 2.4.18 + XFS 1.1 from SGI Debian 3.0( "Woody" ) upgraded to latest packages Samba-2.2.5 .deb package from Eloy Paris Samba: Samba 2.2.5 tarball from samba.org Configure line: ./configure --with-fhs --prefix=/usr --exec-prefix=/usr --with-smbmount --with-pam --with-syslog --with-sambabook --with-utmp --sysconfdir=/etc --with-privatedir=/etc/samba --with-lockdir=/var/state/samba --localstatedir=/var --with-readline --with-quotas --with-msdfs --with-acl-support --with-winbind --with-winbind-auth-challenge ( pathnames for privatedir, sysconfdir, lockdir, etc. taken from files in samba-doc ) Configure gives no warning; make & make install succeed. However, as stated before, smbd dies just after starting it. Any advice, help, links, pointers, comments, etc. appreciated... Thanks In Advance, J.L.
