I think you will find that some directories are cleaned up for you
automatically.
With caldera 2.4,
/var/run is wiped out with each reboot.
/tmp is cleaned up by cleandir every so often.
For information:
man cleandir
AND,
Look for /etc/cron.d and nose around there. These are run by the cron
daemon.
