samba - Jun 2002 - Reg. Error: "The remote computer is not available "

Hi

I have installed samba on a solaris 2.7 box. Running "smbstatus" gives
the
following error

Couldn't open status file /var/opt/samba/locks/STATUS..LCK 

The directory /var/opt/samba/locks contains "browse.dat",
"nmbd.pid", and
"smbd.pid" files.

I am new to samba so i am not sure if i am missing something here..

Also when I try to map the drive from windows NT box, I get the error "The
remote computer is not available"
