There is a parameter in the smb.conf file that you can use to feed it the correct space left. I can't remember what it is, but if you search for drive space in the doc for smb.conf you will find it. -----Original Message----- From: samba-admin@lists.samba.org [mailto:samba-admin@lists.samba.org]On Behalf Of Drew.Zeller@statcan.ca Sent: Wednesday, June 12, 2002 7:58 AM To: samba@lists.samba.org Subject: [Samba] Repost : Incorrect Reporting of Drive Space from the Windows 2000 Explorer on SAMBA shares Repost of question.> -----Original Message----- > > Hi, > > In Windows 2000 I have noticed that when you connect to a SAMBA share and > use the Windows 2000 explorer, the properties for the drive shows the free > space as the maximum capacity of the drive and that the used space is 0. > This incorrect reporting of the drive space is always the same, no matter > how full the disk of the SAMBA share is. > > Has anyone seen this before. Sanjiv, I checked in the documentation, and I think that the option you are thinking of is dfree command. I will give it a try and let you know. Thanks -----Original Message----- From: Sanjiv Bawa [mailto:sbawa@tabmaster.com] Sent: Wednesday, June 12, 2002 9:34 AM To: Drew.Zeller@statcan.ca; samba@lists.samba.org Subject: RE: [Samba] Repost : Incorrect Reporting of Drive Space from the Windows 2000 Explorer on SAMBA shares There is a parameter in the smb.conf file that you can use to feed it the correct space left. Sanjiv, I tried the dfree command option, however this did not correct the problem. Something I did notice though is that I tried connecting from a Windows 2000 machine to one SAMBA server (version 2.2.3a) running on HP-UX 10.20. On this server I did not have any problems with the shares free space calculation. -----Original Message----- From: Sanjiv Bawa [mailto:sbawa@tabmaster.com] Sent: Wednesday, June 12, 2002 9:34 AM To: Drew.Zeller@statcan.ca; samba@lists.samba.org Subject: RE: [Samba] Repost : Incorrect Reporting of Drive Space from the Windows 2000 Explorer on SAMBA shares There is a parameter in the smb.conf file that you can use to feed it the correct space left.
