[Samba] Mappoing from Samba client to \\server\share\dir ?
Hi! How do I create a mountpoint with smbmount, that attaches to \\server\share\dir (on a Windows 2000 server) ?? If I mount to \\server\share I'm not able to see anything - but the mapping to the same server (from a Win2000 client) is okay, and I can see the contents of the directory... Trying to map to //server/share/dir gives me an error: 24402: tree connect failed: ERRDOS - ERRnosuchshare (You specified an invalid share name) I'm using Samba 2.2.4 on RedHat 7.3 Regards, /Brian

[Samba] Denying access to a same document by different users ?
Hi all, On our development plateform, we need to deny access at the same time for modification to a document to more than 1 user... I have tryied the "strict loking" parameter, but nothing happens... We are using ultraedit or textpad text editors to open theses documents over the lan... Has anyone a solution to prevent a document shared in a Samba share, to be modifyed by more than 1 user at the same time ? Being open in read only mode would be good... Ps : here is an extract of my smb.conf file : =============================# Samba config file created using SWAT # from 192.168.1.100 (192.168.1.100) # Date: 2002/04/11 11:08:14 # Global parameters [global] workgroup = MYWORKGROUP netbios name = dm-e250-02 server string = Samba on dm-e250-02 security = SHARE encrypt passwords = Yes update encrypted = Yes min passwd length = 3 log file = /usr/local/samba/var/log.%m max log size = 50 character set = ISO8859-1 hosts allow = 192.168.1. case sensitive = Yes hide dot files = No strict locking = Yes [fgilain] comment = Perso Florent path = /usr/local/samba/shares/protected/fgilain username = fgilain valid users = fgilain force user = fgilain read only = No only user = Yes [tmp] comment = Espace pour fichiers temporaires path = /tmp read only = No guest ok = Yes ============================= thank you and sorry for my English..
