samba - Nov 2001 - Can't browse network

I'm having a bit of trouble browsing the local lan from my windows
clients.  I've tried using "guest account = nobody" and
"guest account ftp" but in the logs they keep coming back as invalid
users.  WTF?

Any clues anyone?
