Is there a tool, either for Perl or C, that will add/change the NT and
LM encrypted passwords in the smbpasswd file? I know about the
smbpasswd command, but I can't use that function from a script. I tried
#!/bin/perl
system("smbpasswd \< $oldpassword\n$newpassword\n$newpassword\n");
and some other things, but I couldn't get it to work.

I want to enable encrypted passwords with samba-2.0.3, RH5.2 and Win95. Does the samba-2.0.3-19990228.src.rpm contain support for encrypted passwords already, or does the Makefile have to be modified? Hints on the necessary steps would be appreciated! Dear All,
I still have a delema, I need to enable encrypted passwords for the samba
server. Ok... sounds easy enough. Got it setup, and it works with a
Windows 98 machine; but, when I try from a NT workstation it comes back
saying something about credetials didn't match?
Please, can someone guide me to a step by step process....
PS: The NT workstation is using Service Pack 5 or 6...
The 98 machine is using Second Edition with latest patches...
Thanks,
James Kosin
