samba - Mar 2000 - smbd processes won't go away

Running Samba 2.0.6, on Sun SC1000 (4 CPUs) with Solaris 2.6

smbd processes don't seem to terminate although the connections don't
show-up  with netstat.  The client session seems to terminate, and the
connection is terminated, but the smbd process seems to hang around waiting.


smb.conf specifies "deadtime=5", and in most cases there is no open
file
associated with the smbd process, but nothing seems to make the smbd process
go away.

smbd is a deamon for the samba server.
To get this to go away you need to stop the samba server.

To do this with RedHat you only need to run....
/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb stop

To start the samba server back up run....
/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb start

To stop then start the server....
/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb restart
