rsync - Oct 2008 - writefd_unbuffered failed to write

Hi,

I've installed cygwin and rsync on a vista client and want backup it to a 
Linux server:
On client side (vista) I use rsync 3.0.4 (protocol version 30)
Capabilities:
    64-bit files, 64-bit inums, 32-bit timestamps, 64-bit long ints,
    socketpairs, hardlinks, symlinks, no IPv6, batchfiles, inplace,
    append, ACLs, no xattrs, iconv, symtimes

On server side (linux) I have rsync 3.0.3 (protocol version 30)
Capabilities:
    64-bit files, 64-bit inums, 32-bit timestamps, 64-bit long ints,
    socketpairs, hardlinks, symlinks, IPv6, batchfiles, inplace,
    append, ACLs, xattrs, iconv, symtimes

The backup aborts after different times. In the client logfile I found the 
message:

Now I have 2 main questions:
1. What the reason that client and server negotiate protocol version 28 
instead 30?
2. What is meaning by "rsync: writefd_unbuffered failed to write 4 bytes 
[sender]: Connection reset by peer (104)"

This output from the receiving machine indicates that it is running the
File::RsyncP perl module, not rsync 3.0.3.  Are you using BackupPC
(which uses File::RsyncP) on the receiver?  If so, you might want to ask
the BackupPC people for help.

File::RsyncP only supports protocol 28.

That typically means the network connection dropped.  See the third item
on http://rsync.samba.org/issues.html .
