Bacula backup system
On c7 I can't find mod_perl. Configuring bacula client requires only few lines...with bacula you need only bacula pkgs and one database. With backuppc there are different services to install and configure...some external to centos base. In c7, without mod_perl I must run cgi with suid... Ok bacula is more complex (complexity I mean for its configuration) but It is better organized and less

rsync 3.0.5 Appears to be Transferring Unchanged Files
I have been using backuppc (rsync protocol) to backup up a Linux web server onto a local server for a number of years. I recall that data volumes were quite low (about 40MB), regardless of whether I was doing full or incremental backups. I recently switched to both a new web server and backuppc server. Early morning traffic volumes when backuppc runs are much higher than expected - I have

BackupPC won't fork after CentOS 5.2 upgrade
For some time now i have been running BackupPC 3.1.0 on CentOS 5.1 x86_64 however after upgrading to CentOS 5.2 BackupPC will not start. "sudo /etc/init.d/backuppc start" return OK but there is no BackupPC processes. This fails also. # sudo -u backuppc /usr/bin/BackupPC -d # echo $? 0 This succeeds, but of course does not fork. # sudo -u backuppc /usr/bin/BackupPC So for some

Optimizations and other questions for rsync
Hello Everyone, I've just started using rsync to copy files from Windows NT RCS library to Stratus VOS (Posix like fauilt tolerant Mini system) as a shadow. I would also like to setup rsync to copy log or other process output files from VOS to an NT system. Some questions if anyone here can help: 1. is there any computational or disk IO difference between the rsync client and server

include/exclude: I miss the point
Hi all, I thought I understand how include/exclude and their precedences work (I read the user guide about this), but I seem to miss something. I have 2 questions about this, separated by ====== Question 1: -------------- I want to exclude the "hidden" directories except some sub-dirs or files: .mybackup and its files) and the mozilla firefox bookmarks folder and its contents

Initial release of PerlRsync (perl rsync client)
I have just released the first version 0.10 of File::RsyncP to SourceForge. See: http://perlrsync.sourceforge.net File::RsyncP is a perl implementation of an Rsync client. It is compatible with Rsync 2.5.5 (protocol version 26). It can send or receive files, either by running rsync on the remote machine, or connecting to an rsyncd deamon on the remote machine. What use is File::RsyncP?

Rsync, what are the max transfer limitations ?
What is the maximum transfer rate allowed for rsync? I mean the limitations? I can't get more than 50Mbit speed in my gigabit lan, with rsync server or with ssh. ftp transfers reach >400Mbit , so it is not a lan or nic problem. Maybe it has something to do with my cpu limitations? or the limitations for rsync is the 50Mb/s? Here is my rsyncd.conf if it helps > # by gourgi > max

writefd_unbuffered failed to write - Broken pipe
I am using Rsync 2.6.3 , and have tried rsync 2.6.2 also. I am attempting to push about 990G from one machine to another. Whenever I do this, it processes about 1/3 the way through and I receive the following error during the transfer, and it stops. Could this be a problem with it running as a cron job? The command I am using is /usr/local/bin/rsync -acv --stats /data/ server::data Any
