Harvey Nash''s client is a young and fast growing Software House who are Developing some very cool shiny new features as well as polishing and optimising existing ones. They are looking for Ruby Developers (Super Users) to join them ideally in their New Edinburgh office, where you will be working in a very slick, high tech and modern environment with all the bells and whistles at your disposal. We are looking for people to work full-time with the team in the Edinburgh office, however my client would consider a remote working arrangement for an exceptional candidate. They do have a relocation package available and Edinburgh is and has been voted, one of the best places to live. The role: You will take a test-driven, agile approach to development, delivering early and often. The current Developers / Engineers work across the full stack and are given the responsibility needed to drive features from design through to deployment developing new features, front-end to back-end. Re-factoring existing areas of their applications and participation in their peer reviewing process and evolution of their engineering strategy The candidate: Be Degree Educated and very passionate about programming, especially in Ruby/Rails (latest versions). With an appreciation of and a proven ability to write well structured, maintainable code . A proven track record in developing high quality web applications (ideally samples would be provided) Along with an understanding of developing for performance at scale In addition to the above you will be confident with SQL (MySQL) along with a solid understanding of common internet technologies JavaScript, JQuery and associated AJAX techniques and good exposure with TDD. You will be an active contributor to the open source community and have a pragmatic approach to problem solving, coupled with strong written and communications skills.
