Rails - Apr 2009 - validates_uniqueness_of does not work for non-latin characters

Hi there

I am wondering about validates_uniqueness_of :name

when I enter the name in English, it works fine
when I enter the name in arabic, it does not validate it and it added
the name though the name has been added before

any idea??
