Ruby Developers (Architect to Jr Level) – San Francisco Company info / Summary: A small startup-esque offshoot of a very large and well known Music/ Media company is looking for great software engineers to build cutting edge applications using Ruby, Rails, and Amazon Web Services at their new San Francisco office. Projects include applications that involve social networking (fans to other fans and artists), assets handling, content management, music sales, music file sharing and storage, directed marketing, etc. This is a small group and they are looking for smart, hard working, creative, A-Level developers that are inquisitive, open minded, and collaborative. Best fit candidates will enjoy an entrepreneurial environment, have a strong interest in web 2.0, online communities, and web applications, enjoy technology and are self motivated to expand their skills and explore new languages, systems, tools, etc. Job description: • Design and implement new features to support internal and customer- facing projects • Help to maintain existing systems • Participate in on-call rotation and help troubleshoot production issues • Work with customers to help determine requirements and priorities • Document and test your work Requirements: • BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent Strong Ruby on Rails experience • Strong experience with related databases (Postgres, MySQL, etc) • Experience with related technologies (Merb, Mogrel, etc) • Experience writing full Web Applications (front and back end and middle layer) • More senior candidates should have a C++, J2EE or similar background and design / architecture experience • Experience working with open source projects and involvement and open source community • Full cycle experience including analysis, design, development, documentation, testing, roll out, etc • Strong individual contribution and good in a team/collaborative environment • Experience writing JavaScript. jQuery/YUI! Experience are a plus • Good understanding of HTML, DHTML, XHTML, CSS, AJAX, and other Web technologies • Diverse technical skills (languages, systems, tools, etc) and the desire to expand skills and explore new technologies • Linux / UNIX experience required (ubuntu experience is a plus) • Experience dealing with cross browser issues in relation to web development a plus • Behavior driven design and development is a plus • Experience with distributed applications and large dataset processing is a plus (hadoop, Xen virtualization, Amazon Web Services, Cloud computing, etc) • Experience working with AWS, CDNs, SSO systems and/or music & video production workflows a plus Location: San Francisco, CA 94104 Downtown (Bart and CalTrain accessible) Pay / Type: There are multiple openings.
