Rails - Apr 2008 - sending mail from Mailer plugin is slow in development syst

Hi everyone,

Here i am facing a problem with mailer in my development system which
doesn''t have smtp in that . Its taking too much time to send mail, it
is
taking 2 or 3 min to send 5 mail continuously . Anybody plz tell me why
its taking that much time . Is it bcz their is no SMTP installed so when
i send mail the  mailer will wait for a period of time to get response
from SMTP.
