The comparison is quit interesting and encouraging! When I looked into a Job site over here in Pakistan, I found 0 jobs of Ruby on Rails! And that was horrifying! --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. I don''t know how far jobs have penetrated in Pakistan but Obie Fernandez posted some metrics on his blog about the rise of Rails. Check: http://blog.obiefernandez.com/content/2008/01/growth-in-ruby.html Remember we all start somewhere. If you are looking to expand your skill set, Rails seems like a wise bet for the future. If you need to work today, you are more likely to find Java or PHP jobs unless you are a cutting edge consultancy. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. I would say that RoR is very popular. I have heard about websites converting over to RoR almost on a daily basis and infact it is a thread that is discussed very often on this forum. In my opinion, RoR is so powerful because one man can build the same quality app that three or four people can but in half the time. Plus, Ruby is such a powerful language and also fun to work with. I have programmed in Java, VB, C#, C++, Perl, and PHP and Ruby has the best parts of all these language bundled into one language. -S -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. The Pakistani market responds slowly to the upcoming technologies because most of the work being outsourced is in PHP or Java or least under the .NET but still I found some job postings on http://www.rozee.pk earlier but they were few in comparison to other jobs. I''m myself working on a large open source RoR application and enjoying it really! Working on vim is fine but anyone tried the NetBeans IDE 6.0 with Ruby and Rails support? That''s really great for the newbies as I was! Thanks in advance for > your posts !Hi Tom, Not sure there can be an objective answer to your question/query but there are a number of people working with RubyOnRails and Ruby. They range from open-source hackers to large fortune-500 conglomerates. Most people who use it, like it, some even love it and some even hate it (most redundant thing i''ve said all day!).
