What do you guys use for design and modeling (and don''t answer pen and paper, because I use those to, they just don''t look so good in a project report ;) ) I have tried stuff like UMLet (free), Altova UMLsomething (pay), dia (no comprende ;) ), NetBeans UML (slow). But none worked just the way I wanted them to. Any suggestions? But I really believe in this: http://www.agilemodeling.com/principles.htm#SoftwareIsYourPrimaryGoal and this: http://www.agilemodeling.com/principles.htm#ContentIsMoreImportantThanRepresentation and especially this: http://www.agilemodeling.com/principles.htm#TravelLight and this: http://www.agilemodeling.com/practices.htm#UseTheSimplestTools Designs and models should be thrown away after they''ve served their purpose of helping you to create working software. It''s too much trouble to keep them updated, and nobody cares anyway. If you have to prepare reports for PHB''s or whatever, then I guess you need whiz-bang tools and gizmos. Too bad. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. You could scan them in if you need to have them in digital format. Otherwise, I have a Wacom digital drawing tablet that I will use on occasion. For quick SQL modeling I typically use http://ondras.praha12.net/sql/demo/, but usually just paper ;) -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. For drawing the UML diagrams I''m always using Enterprise Architect (7.0 b817 right now). It''s very stable, very intuitive and very professional tool. Only one thing - it''s not free, so you gotta to use it in trial mode for 30 days or just buy it. :) On Oct 4, 9:44 am, Christian Wattengård <cwatteng...-Re5JQEeQqe8AvxtiuMwx3w@public.gmane.org> wrote:> What do you guys use for design and modeling (and don''t answer pen and > paper, because I use those to, they just don''t look so good in a > project report ;) ) > > I have tried stuff like UMLet (free), Altova UMLsomething (pay), dia > (no comprende ;) ), NetBeans UML (slow).
