So I see a lot of legitimate postings to this group using the above  
From: but then again I also see spammers using it to cover their tracks.

So just exactly what is
rails-mailing-list-ARtvInVfO7ksV2N9l4h3zg@public.gmane.org and why is
it being used?

Please reconsider it''s use as it''s much harder to blacklist
spammers
if they are using legimate email addresses.
