Hey, is that a joke? http://www.servoy.com/generic.jsp?mt=393&taxonomy_id=682&pageid=glror These guys are trying to differentiate by comparing their solution with RoR. But take a look at their Flash tutorials - this stuff looks like Oracle Forms 10 years ago! And as far as I can understand it''s not browser based but requires proprietary Servoy Web Client. m. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. They just collected buzzwords from the web and then claim their proprietary solution is "better" than anything people are talking about right now. Then they re-invent the wheel creating a proprietary client, with restricted client licenses and so on. Ignore them. -- Jens --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. Well, I don''t know what Oracle forms looked like 10 years ago, but I''m pretty sure this Servoy works in a "standard" (probably meaning IE only) browser. I don''t really get the comparisons to Ruby on Rails. I mean, there are plenty of better comparisons they could make... most obvious is ASP.NET. I guess they are just latching on to the buzz going around about Rails and not trying to compete with MS directly. But hey, it is visual and Windows based, how can you go wrong? -matthew -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. Re: Better than RoR...
Well...read the first sentence in that page: "Are you tired of the complex syntax and the limited capability of Ruby on Rails?" Say no more. These guys are buzz-riding buffoons. I''m no Rails super fan or anything, but anyone who dares to state that Rails'' syntax is complex, and that it has limited capabilities knows NOTHING about RoR! Anyone who has even just "looked" at Rail knows how simple and powerful it is. What makes me mad is that I just spent 10 seconds writing this post about these know-nothings. Are you tired of the complex syntax and the limited capability of Ruby on Rails? Well - I''m sold on it. $2495 for the starter kit ($3500 value), including a 4-fscking-volume printed manual (can''t wait to dig into THAT), and 2 WHOLE users allowed to connect to my application. After that, a mere $289 per user. My god, who are they kidding? c. The sad thing is that people will probably actually end up paying for this.
