Rails - Oct 2006 - Possible to debug or log outside of MVC?

I have a rails app that I''d like to debug or log, but I want to 
determine what is going on in an adapter (db_adapter.rb).

Is this possible?  And, if so, how?


I''ve tried breakpointer, and it says Executing ...  but then nothing 
happens.  I also tried it with an IRB console open at the same time.. 
still nothing.

Any ideas?

If your problem is ActiveRecord specific, what I would do is
writing a standalone script that requires AR, establish db connection,
create a model and do some manipulations, then debug the script
with ruby-debug for instance.
