I am in a hurry to fill a programmer/developer position for an insurance
company in Sydney, Australia. Since we have started the process of
looking at Rails as a future development environment I thought I might
be able to find an appropriate person from this list faster than going
through the usual advertising/agencies route. If we can find someone
appropriate I would like them to start next week (ie Mon 24 June 2006).
I am looking for a recent/near graduate (last year or this year), ie it
is a junior programming position - who is:
- competent in C
- competent in PHP
- competent in RoR
- can work effectively with a small IT team of 6 (3 or 4 other
developers)
- can liaise intelligently with non-technical colleagues and therefore
also has good communication skills - verbal and written
This company has been moving legacy, green-screen, C apps to a PHP
environment in an incremental fashion for a few years. We have started
to look at the potential for Rails in the future and will probably be
doing some prototyping and pilot developments soon.
