Rails - May 2006 - Audio recording through Rails App > Web Server

Hey all,

There are a couple posts about the possibility of using Red 5 to record
audio through a user''s mic to the server, through RoR apps. I wonder:
besides Odeo (I think they''ve developed an in-house app?) are there any
examples and/or demos of this being done?

Or, are there any reasonable java sources that actually *do* work to
take mic input from a user''s machine, and save it as a file to the
server?

I wouldn''t use a browser for this. I prefer to build on the appropriate
infrastructure, which is telephony ...

Try using a softphone to send the audio via VoIP to an Asterisk PBX.

You can hook that into a Rails app by integrating RAGI. See http:// 
ragi.sf.net ...
