I''ve used Verdana heavily in many of my sites. My graphics designer likes it and so do my clients. There is a well-reasoned discussion that goes something like: - Verdana is bigger than any other font in default size - If a user doesn''t have Verdana, what they see may be way smaller than designed - Ergo, don''t use Verdana What is everyone else doing? 80+% of my site visitors are IE/Win, 8% Firefox/Win, the rest primarily Mac/Safari or Mac/Firefox. I get one or two Linux hits a month and these are the ones primarily affected by the discussion. Thanks in advance for your opinions on this. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/-Totally-OT-CSS-Best-Prac.-Rails-Apps-t1417771.html#a3821360 Sent from the RubyOnRails Users forum at Nabble.com.

You should be fine with Verdana, which tends to be more eye-friendly, IMHO. Don''t know if this is helpful, but I recommend this article to individuals who have questions about fonts on the web. http://www.efuse.com/Design/web_fonts_basics.html Dave -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ David Andrew Thompson http://dathompson.blogspot.com On 4/8/06, s.ross <cwdinfo@gmail.com> wrote:> > I''ve used Verdana heavily in many of my sites. verdana was designed by matthew carter for microsoft, specifically for rendering on screen. i think it''s a good font for body type. but i think it''s a bit of an awkward font when you use it as a larger display type. -tak. Thanks. As I said, there is some religious debate regarding use of Verdana because it is larger than correspondingly-sized other fonts. I just wanted to make sure there wasn''t some huge groundswell of "Verdana is evil" going on that I didn''t know about :) -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/-Totally-OT-CSS-Best-Prac.-Rails-Apps-t1417771.html#a3823908 Sent from the RubyOnRails Users forum at Nabble.com.
