Hi, I''m in Cape Town as well and recently started with Rails. Usually we deal with SAP systems. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
Hi Gopal, I remember you from the IDLELO conference. Hope you are well. Nice to see that you are using Rails. I am not in South Africa, but am located in Ghana. Here in Ghana, we are going to introduce school kids to Ruby as a first language in a competition called "I Too Can Program". Before they used QBasic and it resulted in awful code as well as confused students. In our Advanced Information Technology Institute, they are using RoR internally and will soon start teaching it as well (hopefully!). I recommended this to them because RoR is being adopted worldwide as a better way to do things, and we could for once be at the front of the revolution instead of tagging along in the back. Maybe you can tell your folks over there, that we in Ghana are grateful to South Africa for conceding the lead and allowing us to take over :-) Not to mention that even in India, they haven''t yet began to cotton on. -- G.
