Rails - Mar 2006 - why do i not get error warning from validation?

Hello there,
I just switched my religion to Rails :)
I''m confused of error_messages_for .. isn''t it impossible to
by pass
validation from its model ?
How come I don''t get error warning while i gave validates_inclusion_of
:category_id, :in => 1..5 in my model ?

is there any possibilities unwittingly that our form by pass our validation
that we''ve declared in our model?
