Larry,
I''m about 4/5 of the way to getting it working myself. I can serve
static HTML without a problem. My remaining issue is just getting
FastCGI to talk to Lighttpd properly. I have a few posts to the
Lighttpd list to this effect. My steps thus far have been:
1. Install Cygwin with the required libraries (automake, autoconf,
libtool, gcc, libpcre, pcre)
2. Download and compile FastCGI in Cygwin [1]
3. Download and compile Lighttpd in Cygwin [2]
4. Use the ''d:/path/to/file.conf'' syntax in lighttpd.conf. It
doesn''t
like the /cygdrive/d/path/)
5. If you run into ''unable to map'' error when running lighttpd
you
need to use ''rebase'' (a cygwin package) that remaps memory
address
usage. Follow the ''rebase'' instructions from this thread [3]
Jan, the Lighttpd author, develops on WinXP using Cygwin, so I''m
confident it can be done on Win2k3. I''ll post my configs and final
install process to the lighttpd list once I''ve managed to get mine
running.
And yes, it should be more stable and much better ITO memory than
Apache on Win2003 (the preferred practice is still to use ProxyPass
though).
