All, Sorry for the delay in getting this done, but I''ve been extremely busy. Anyway, the salted hash login generator has been updated for Rails 0.13.1. All functional and unit tests now pass. Additionally, I have done some minor cleanup to remove the virtual validation stuff, since that is now handled by the conditional validation patch. In the future, I will probably remove transactions to further simplify the code (they aren''t really needed since passwords are not mailed anymore). Please note: you need version 1.1.0 of the SHLG *AND* version 1.0.9 of the localization generator. Both are now up on RubyForge. I''ve also cleaned up the Wiki. I removed anything that references a problem fixed by this release. Also, a few have noted that rake doesn''t work properly on at least Debian unless the --no- rdoc option is supplied. I only have Mac OS X 10.4.2 and Mandrake for testing, and it is working with both. So, if someone who has seen this problems can send me the output, I''ll take a look at the problem. Please post any additional problems to the list. I will try to respond to any issues today or tomorrow if any more fixes are needed. Thanks, Joe
This is great Joseph - was beginning to pull my hair out trying to wire this into Rails 0.13. Just one question: you mention it requires 1.0.9 of the localization generator - but when I do a gem update the latest version is still showing as 1.0.8. Can you clarify? -Phil On 31 Jul 2005, at 18:49, Joseph Hosteny wrote:> All, > > Sorry for the delay in getting this done, but I''ve been > extremely busy. Anyway, I''ve just tried to install localization and generator using gem remotely and found that I only got 1.0.7 of localization and 1.0.9 of generator. I had to download the gems and install using gem locally to get the latest packages. I presume this is some artifact of mirroring? As stated in the page, wrapping the generate_blank in if''s fixes those pages, but what about the other ones? I have narrowed it down a little bit more, and it seems to fail only when already logged in, goto login page, click forgotten password, then observe nil failure.> I also seem to have problems logging in using the newly registered > account. I had problems running tests even when just placing the file there, before selecting that I was even to use norwegian at all. I''m guessing that rake is testing all files in the lang folder by default. I have since become more convinced that this must be just bad luck, karma or something like that. Localization is quite heavily discussed on the ruby lists for the time being and from what I have understood things aren''t as bad as I was afraid of. Thanks for all help so far. I now have fairly few issues left: * The nil-problem for actions on change_password and more importantly on the edit action. * Translation (fails for testing, haven''t gotten around to see if any of the translations will actually work in the actual app). * The logged_in_at field doesn''t seem to be filled in on actual login ( I guess it is supposed to show some sort of last_logged_in information?) Ronny, I made one more update today of the salted login gem. It is now at version 1.1.1. Give that a try. It fixes some additional DoubleRender problems. Joseph, I''m sure the answer to this will be embarrassingly obvious but I can''t seem to figure this out. I am getting the following error on the login view: uninitialized constant CONFIG /lib/localization.rb:85 /app/controllers/application.rb:4 script/server:49 Is localization_environment.rb not getting loaded properly? I have the following in environment.rb: require ''environments/localization_environment'' Any ideas? I have followed the instructions in the README''s and verified I haven''t missed anything. Mike W.
