ActiveRecord backend for Instiki - call for volunteers
I''m planning to give Instiki an ActiveRecord backend, thus making it a 100% Rails application. If you know your way around AR and want to participate in this exercise, please reply. Should be fun. Best regards, Alexey Verkhovsky

This woudl allow Instiki to maintain its ease of use, but I don''t really know if it''s feasible. Either way, I''d be interested in helping. I''m not intimately familiar with AR but I think I could still be useful. Thanks, Ben

I suggest that you start by looking long and hard at insiki/app/model code Don''t bother too much with the whole model/chunk thing - it is all about markup parsing, and really belongs in the lib. Mainly you need to understand who are wiki, page and revision, and how do they interact with each other. Once I have some spare time, I will write up some user stories to organize the coding. Alex

Hopefully I''ll have some time to do some good rails coding this week or weekend... -- rick http://techno-weenie.net

It ended up being that we needed to invoke instiki with an absolute path to the storage directory. That got us back to being able to actually edit pages. There was some discussion about broken edits with special characters, but I didn''t look at that at all. It could well be exactly what 0.10.2 fixes for all I know. Ben
