Rails - Jul 2005 - Fastcgi dispatch.fcgi processes don't respond to killall -USR1 dispatch.fcgi

I''m having this trouble both on Red Hat Enterprise 3 and on OS X with
Apache
1.3 after having followed all the recipes on both machines to install
fastcgi. Fastcgi works fine, serving pages quickly. Just doesn''t seem
to
want to shut down gracefully.

Anybody else have this trouble and know any solutions?
