Rails - Jul 2005 - Installation Problem

I just finished installing Ruby and RubyGems on my linux box and went to
install rails when I got the following error message:

In paging up in my window I realize that this same message was given at
the end of my installation of RubyGems.  Was there an error on my
installation of RubyGems?  If so, does anyone know what I need to do to
fix it?

Looks like you don''t have the Ruby zlib library, which is required for
RubyGems. That is supposed to be included with Ruby, so maybe if you
compiled your own version that wasn''t configured or compiled (maybe
because you don''t have the actual C zlib on your system.)

See what happens if you have just a Ruby file with just the following:

require ''zlib''
