If this is a bot, we can insert a capcha into the wiki edit page and
that should do the trick. I''ve been looking at a nice GPL capcha used
in phpBB that I could port over to Ruby (I think) if someone would
integrate it with Instiki.
If this is a few humans spamming, then I think some registration might
be in order. I liked the way coWiki (http://www.develnet.org/) works
with UNIX like permissions.
