real rails programmer don''t use ruby script\generate?
Okay, so real programmer DO use script/generate and a newbie should learn this. Which leads to the next question - When Rails itself is upgraded (as it has recently been), do the scripts in the script directory also need to be upgraded for each application, or are they always going to do the job just fine? I ran "gem install rails" to upgrade my Rails installation, but I''m pretty sure this did nothing to upgrade the scripts in my application directory. I''m concerned that I have old version scripts in my application scripts directory. I ran rails to create a new application over my old directory and it busted the app (naturally I backed up seconds before) - so this doesn''t seem to be a practical way of upgrading the scripts. When Rails is upgraded, they talk to the new Rails! It used to be the other way around-- you had to upgrade these scripts along with Rails-- but what a PITA, huh? No more of that. jeremy
