So I''m finally setting up Rails locally, on OS 10.3.8, under lighttpd, and everthing''s kinda going well, but: The changes I''ve made to config/database.yml simply aren''t being read. As a result, I get MySQL errors no matter what I try, since Rails is trying to use a nonexistent DB (the default ''rails_development''). I''ve restarted lighttpd a bunch of times; no difference. I''ve regenerated the entire Rails app; no difference. What (obvious) step am I forgetting? Thanks... Chris

I have the exact same setting for just perfect. //jarkko> > Thanks... > Chris > _______________________________________________ > Rails mailing list > Rails-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org > http://lists.rubyonrails.org/mailman/listinfo/rails >-- Jarkko Laine http://jlaine.net http://odesign.fi _______________________________________________ Rails mailing list Rails-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org http://lists.rubyonrails.org/mailman/listinfo/rails
Hi jarkko config/database.yml: development: adapter: mysql database: exchange_development host: localhost username: rails password: whatever test: adapter: mysql database: exchange_test host: localhost username: rails password: whatever production: adapter: mysql database: exchange_production host: localhost username: rails password: whatever Any thoughts? Thanks, Chris
I believe I''ve ran into this before when using lighttpd and FastCGI. I never nailed it down, but something was caching the database config info. After making changes I had to kill the lighttpd and FastCGI processes and restart them. cboone wrote:>Hi jarkko > >config/database.yml: > >development: > adapter: mysql > database: exchange_development > host: localhost > username: rails > password: whatever > >test: > adapter: mysql > database: exchange_test > host: localhost > username: rails > password: whatever > >production: > adapter: mysql > database: exchange_production > host: localhost > username: rails > password: whatever > >Any thoughts? > >Thanks, >Chris >_______________________________________________ >Rails mailing list >Rails-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org >http://lists.rubyonrails.org/mailman/listinfo/rails > > >

This time I killed it and deleted the /tmp/whatever.fcgi.socket and that did the trick. I guess. Question: I don''t see FastCGI processes running anywhere -- why not?
I believe the fcgi process is named after the actual script, such as dispatch.fcgi. cboone wrote:>>I believe I''ve ran into this before when using lighttpd and FastCGI.
