Hello, I am a programmer/designer hybrid presently co-operating Needmore Designs in lovely Portland, Oregon. I''ve been hearing a lot about RoR lately and was intrigued by the article in OnLamp (I believe it was). We mainly develop Flash-based websites so I do a lot of PHP programming for administrative areas wherein our clients can update and maintain their website content, stored in MySQL, fed on demand to the client-side script. I find PHP a nuisance even with its nice selection of libraries, since mostly what I''m doing is very similar tasks. There are typically small variations in needs between clients but I find myself doing a lot of unnecessary rewrites and crap like that. Also I just read the Pragmatic Programmer book and feel like I''m spending ten hours when I should be spending one hour on these updates and modifications. I get the impression RoR could make my life far easier. However, since I haven''t yet taken the time even to really grok Ruby, I''m just following posts on here for now and learning by osmosis. We''ll see how that goes. Cheers, Raymond Brigleb
