I''m Mike Woodhouse, 40-(cough) year-old long-term
developer working in London (the UK one) hacking out
maintenance jobs in VB6... sigh, but it pays, God, it
pays.
Which makes me a recreational Rubyist: I picked it up
as a result of reading The Pragmatic Programmer a
couple of years back.
As for Rails, I have several half-cut ideas for when I
understand the framework better, a process that would
doubtless be faster if I just had more time (young
children, ''nuff said). For now I''m playing with the
tutorial applications, expanding them as I figure out
new pieces. Routes certainly looks like an interesting
addition to the stable.
I''m staggered at the impact Rails appears to be having
- how many 0.9 releases in "minor" languages can have
generated so much (including real, cash jobs) in so
little time? Well done all concerned.
