-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 In case anyone else is tooling around lighttpd, I just wanted to share that it took all of 5-10 minutes to get it installed, configured, running and properly rewriting a hieraki install. http://manuals.textdrive.com/ is now under lighttpd (and the content is currently hidden) and it''s likely to stay under hieraki. And the rewrite rules in lighttpd (thanks Justin F. for the final controller=shelf piece that I had left off) are url.rewrite = ( "^/$" => "/dispatch.fcgi?controller=shelf", "^/([-_a-zA-Z0-9]+)/([-_a-zA-Z0-9]+)/([0-9]+)$" => "/dispatch.fcgi?controller=$1&action=$2&id=$3", "^/([-_a-zA-Z0-9]+)/([-_a-zA-Z0-9]+)$" => "/dispatch.fcgi?controller=$1&action=$2", "^/([-_a-zA-Z0-9]+)/$" => "/dispatch.fcgi?controller=$1&action=index" ) Our main sites --in PHP-- worked quite nicely as well. The next thing I''m trying with lighttpd is the mysql-based virtual hosting and then I think it''ll be time for a "wishlist"/"wishlist visit", and it''s likely we''ll be doing at least big hosted app entirely with lighttpd (like we''re going to switch it next week). - - Jason -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGP 8.1 iQA/AwUBQgfGlVUyB+ajXkCLEQLUkwCfTqtezXOCwo2NLnzBrZanwTXD7cAAn3Gf Yuiz12kBgEAlOGmSjxXE3YoQ =AuKi -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Can anyone point me to a resource explaining the benefits? I''ve never had many complaints with apache, except that it has hundreds of features I don''t use. I''m (slowly) building a rails application at present which may warrant a dedicated server, should I consider lighttpd? -- Cheers Koz

OK, so the ''elevator pitch'' is that it''s a functional high performance HTTP server for high load environments? It seems like a reasonable option, I guess I can look at it ahead of time incase load increases? Are there any other cool features? On Mon, 07 Feb 2005 21:08:14 -0600, John W. Ok, I''m hooked! The more I look at it, the stronger the feeling I got when I first saw rails gets; Something Simple, Something Agile, Something Useful. /me wanders off to install this beauty.
