Hi, I''d like to add Rails to Gentoo Linux''s portage system. I''ve come up with a method for installing gems via portage, but we''re still testing it. In the meantime I''d like to add Rails now with a .tgz Is there any documentation for installing from a tgz? > Is there any documentation for installing from a tgz?In the tgz form, there''s no install. The tgz contains a full Rails skeleton including all the necessary libraries. So you''d use one tgz package per application. But once you have RubyGems on portage, I think that''s all the packaging support needed. -- David Heinemeier Hansson, http://www.basecamphq.com/ -- Web-based Project Management http://www.rubyonrails.org/ -- Web-application framework for Ruby http://macromates.com/ -- TextMate: Code and markup editor (OS X) http://www.loudthinking.com/ -- Broadcasting Brain
