R help - Apr 2012 - converting class verbatim to string

Hi

I have a variable in verbatim and want to search a pattern . but i'm not 
able to convert  it into string. 
is there anyway that i can search directly from verbatim

This is utterly incomprehensible.
Please provide a reproducible example.
