Is it possible to allow HTML email on R-Help? HTML email is mainstream and would really help with code markup and embedded graphics. Just a thought. It's frustrating dealing with the low usability of plain text. Aren
It may be "mainstream" but it really isn't as easy to use or as
universally readable as plain text.
There are other forums to meet this "need", such as
stackoverflow.com.

On the contrary, unless special care is taken (rarely happens), HTML
email almost invariably shows code in a proportional font which is
more difficult to read than plain text. Forum web pages which do the
sort of thing you like are clumsy to use IMHO.
If you want a graphic to help explain a question or answer, it's not
very difficult to attach a PNG file. On the odd occasion where some
more elaborate combination of text, graphics and code is required, you
can make it into a PDF file for the convenience of readers (though I
can't think right now of an occasion where that was necessary).
In my experience, the best way to read list mail is a simple text
based email client such as mutt. Point-and-click email clients deal
with threads poorly if at all, and are tedious by comparison.

In my case, it's refreshing to use a list that omits HTML. Long may
it continue.
