Take a look at ?sm.density.compare : you forgot to include the
"group"
argument in your call. Try
require(sm)
rno1 = rnorm(1000)
rno2 = rnorm(1000)
g <- rep(c(1, 2), each = 1000)
y <- c(rno1, rno2)
sm.density.compare(y, g, model = 'equal')
